- I've been thinking about U.S. Veteran's Day.
Here is an interesting question. How many Europeans or Americans or Asians hate their lives so much that they would be willing to strap a bomb full of ball bearings to their belly in order to qualify for 72 virgins in the next life?
What exactly is it they want to do with 72 virgins? I'm serious; I really want to know. How sick and sexually repressed do you have to be, to imagine and to believe something like that? I'm in awe. This ain't no romantic metaphor, either. These kids believe it literally.
It occurs to me that this whole Bush-Bin Laden thing is a war between religious "fundamentalists" on both sides. Why? Is Satan jockying for territory? It's like a war between the goddamn phoney Greek Gods! While the rest of us run around and die like ants below. Or, set cars on fire.
Well, me, I've never been one to lust for virgins (trust me, too much trouble), but, hey, I'm not quibbling--I mean, I like 'em broken in a little, a bit of kohl around the eyelids, but I figure if I'm allocated 72 virgins, hey, that's a lot of virgins to sort through.
